Alabama’s parole board decided Wednesday against freeing a onetime Ku Klux Klansman convicted in a church bombing that killed four black girls more than 50 years ago. Relatives of three of the slain girls spoke against Blanton’s release during the hearing. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Seventy-three North Dakota businesses have now been dubbed "infant friendly" through a state Health Department program that recognizes companies for adopting policies supporting nursing mothers in the workplace. The program has been around since 2011. The businesses and entities that have received the designation together have more than 18,000 employees. (AP) — Police say a 36-year-old Southern California high school athletic director is jailed in suburban Las Vegas on statutory sexual assault charges after he was found with a runaway 15-year-old girl from his school. Henderson police said Wednesday that Juan Ivan Barajas of San Gabriel was arrested Tuesday after a patrol officer found him in a parked vehicle with the girl in a residential neighborhood.

Medical records say he died on a jail cell floor in October 2015 from an infection related to Crohn's disease. Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said jail staff called medical personnel when Smith was found on the floor.
