KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City police say no one was injured when a police helicopter made an emergency landing in a city intersection. Police spokeswoman Kari Thompson said in a statement that the pilots landed the helicopter upright just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after it experienced a mechanical problem. No further details were immediately available.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A former Philadelphia church official is due back in court two days after he was released from prison when his child-endangerment conviction was overturned. The conviction has twice been overturned, most recently when the state's top court said the trial judge let too many church victims not directly linked to the case testify.

In May 2015, LaTourette filed a claim against the government over the treatment he received from his Capitol doctors, claiming they failed to pass along critical information about a lesion on his pancreas and the need for follow-up monitoring. LaTourette received his medical care from Capitol physicians over his 18-year congressional career. An MRI revealed a small lesion on his pancreas and the radiologist told a Capitol physician that follow-up imaging needed to be done in six months, according to LaTourette's filing with the court.
