BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Officials say investigators from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are assisting in the search for a college student who disappeared from a North Carolina mountain town in April. The Boone Police Department said in a news release that the lead investigator on the case spent two days with investigators from the center.

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Public School officials say testing has found high levels of lead in the water of 99 of the district's schools. Officials say all the schools had at least one sink or water fountain that had water with more lead than the federal Environmental Protection Agency's "action level" of 15 parts per billion.

Researchers on Sunday outlined a syndrome called "mild behavioral impairment" that may be a harbinger of Alzheimer's or other dementias, and proposed a checklist of symptoms to help identify who's at risk. —Has the person become less spontaneous and active — for example, is he/she less likely to initiate or maintain conversation? —Has the person recently developed trouble regulating smoking, alcohol, drug intake or gambling, or started shoplifting?

MUNICH — The teenager behind the deadly shooting rampage in Munich was a withdrawn loner obsessed with playing “killer” video games, a victim of bullying who suffered from panic attacks set off by contacts with other people, investigators said Sunday, adding that he had planned the attack for a year. (AP) — The University of Connecticut will not be adding a surcharge to tickets for the upcoming football and basketball seasons, according to the school's athletic director. The school's Board of Trustees in January approved adding a surcharge of between $1 and $5 to tickets for football and men's and women's basketball games. The money would be used to help fund the construction of new soccer, baseball and softball stadiums.

CORSICANA, Texas (AP) — Law officers have located thousands of marijuana plants at a pot farm hidden in a wooded area of North Texas. Investigators say the property owner was not aware of the marijuana operation that yielded plants with a street value of several hundred thousand dollars.

(AP) — Officials say one of those killed in a Lake Michigan boat accident was a retired Hammond firefighter who was a former leader of the Lake County Marine Unit. Lake County Sheriff John Buncich tells The (Munster) Times (http://bit.ly/2a5Of4c ) the fatal crash comes as a shock because Wade had decades of experience on the water.

(AP) — Wildlife officials are searching for a mountain lion spotted on a Casper golf course. The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2aaaDwY ) that Wyoming Game and Fish Department officials have set a trap for the lion, which was spotted Friday at the Paradise Valley Country Club and in the surrounding area.

Yolo County sheriff's Sgt. Charles Hoyt says the second pilot involved in the collision Saturday about 3 miles east of Zamora was not injured but was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Hoyt says officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have taken over the investigation.

BOSTON (AP) — Former Vice President Al Gore's daughter and other activists are due in court after being arrested during a natural gas pipeline protest in Boston. Houston-based Spectra Energy Corp. says the pipeline will provide a reliable energy source to the region.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz says she will step down at end of party's convention.

Carol Davit, executive director of the Missouri Prairie Foundation, told The Joplin Globe (http://j.mp/2a2JJFo ) the foundation wanted the prairie to complement the nearby George Washington Carver National Monument. The foundation bought the land with part of a $750,000 grant that was part of a settlement with Asarco, a mining company, for environmental damage in the area.

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A ferry captain and Portland Fire Department boat crew rescued four people from Casco Bay after their sailboat overturned in a squall as thunderstorms kicked up Saturday afternoon. The Portland Press Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2am75tJ ) that Casco Bay Lines Capt. John Tracy said he saw the four in the water and his crew tossed a life ring to one woman and pulled her aboard.

A police press release says the early Sunday morning shooting possibly stemmed from an argument between two groups of people. Responding to a report of people being shot, officers found two men and one woman wounded inside the common area of an apartment building at 2:45 a.m. The university says on its website that the shooting occurred after a fight at a party.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A plea from New Mexico's pecan growers to use a restricted pesticide against insect infestations is drawing opposition from advocates for the honey bee. The pecan growers are asking the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the exception, saying the pesticide is the only way to combat insect infestations that are threatening their crops.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Gov. Mike Pence's pick to replace him on the November ballot is suggesting that other Republicans seeking the nomination might not get help from Pence's $7 million campaign fund should GOP leaders go against the governor's wishes. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A massive wildfire destroyed at least 18 homes and threatened 1,500 more Sunday as flames churned through tinder-dry canyons north of Los Angeles where authorities found a burned body in a neighborhood.
