PELHAM, N.Y. (AP) — Students and staff at Pelham, New York schools have been evacuated as a precaution after a caller made a bomb threat. A spokeswoman, Maria Slippen, says classes were under way when the call was received sometime between 9 and 10 a.m. Monday. She said students and staff in the adjoining high school, middle school and business offices were all evacuated in a "very orderly fashion" to pre-determined locations. DALLAS (AP) — Two students pursuing careers in journalism will share $7,000 in scholarships from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters organization. The TAPB board on Monday announced the 2016 scholarship winners are Mayra Cordova of Dallas and Jessica Babb of Harker Heights. The White House released a proclamation Monday directing federal buildings, embassies, military posts and naval vessels to lower flags to half-staff "as a mark of respect" for the former first lady until after her interment. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Apple Inc. Monday and left in place a ruling that the company conspired with publishers to raise electronic book prices when it sought to challenge Amazon.com's dominance of the market. The 2-1 ruling by the New York-based appeals court sustained a trial judge's finding that Apple orchestrated an illegal conspiracy to raise prices.

When it was over, the hundreds of high school students who participated had raised a total of $762,153.87 for charities and local people suffering from terminal illnesses. Funds raised for this year's event will be donated to 43 individuals and organizations chosen by a committee of high school students.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A section of a Rochester neighborhood has been closed by police activity that includes SWAT members and an armored vehicle. Residents along a stretch of Lake Avenue received an automated phone call around 6:30 a.m. Monday telling them to remain in their homes. An armored vehicle was used to remove residents of an apartment building away from the scene. A Rochester police investigator says authorities believe the situation is contained and residents are no longer in danger. No other details have been released.
