Authorities: Driver who rammed woman faces murder charge
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A driver has been charged with first-degree murder after a fatal hit-and-run in Springfield.
Authorities say 46-year-old Elizabeth McKeown, of Springfield, also has been charged with armed criminal action in the death of 57-year-old Barbara Foster. It's unclear whether McKeown has a lawyer. She remained in Greene County Jail Thursday.
Police say McKeown drove away Tuesday evening from the scene but crashed into a vehicle a few blocks away, where witnesses helped hold her for officers.
A court document says McKeown told officers she was in a hurry and had gotten annoyed sitting behind Foster's vehicle in traffic. She says she ran into Foster's vehicle "full out" after nudging it.
