Series of earthquakes rattle Salinas, Hollister areas
A swarm of earthquakes, including a magnitude 4.2 quake, rattled the Salinas area Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The 4.2 quake was reported at 5:58 a.m. near the San Benito County community of Paicines south of Hollister, formerly called Tres Pinos, with a depth of 6 kilometers, the USGS reported.
A second temblor shook the same area at 6:01 a.m. with a magnitude of 3.2 and a third at 6:10 a.m. with a magnitude of 3.
No damages or injuries were immediately reported, but some people were quick to report the shake on social media.
“Nice way to start the day... A pleasant 4.0 to shake the cats through the roof at 6 a.m. Oooh. There’s another one as I type,” one person tweeted.
