No crying by Pittsburg over football matchup against De La Salle
Pittsburg’s Vic Galli wasn’t throwing in the towel. Far from it.
Upon hearing that his team drew the fourth seed and a first-round North Coast Section Open Division matchup with De La Salle-Concord, the 17-year head coach turned philosophical.
“It’s not a death sentence,” he said. “It’s not Mount Everest. It’s a tall order, but we’ll get ready and be ready. We’ll just go out and try to win a high school football game.”
The Pirates (7-3) tried to persuade a North Coast seeding committee they deserved the third seed over Clayton Valley-Concord (9-1) even though they lost a head-to-head game to the Eagles on opening night, a 38-31 double-overtime decision at home.
