UCF: More operating funds misused for construction
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — School officials say the University of Central Florida inappropriately used an additional $10 million of state funds geared for operating expenses on construction projects and building improvements.
School officials made the new disclosure Thursday during a meeting with lawyers from an Atlanta law firm hired to investigate the school's use of $38 million in funds meant for operations on the construction of Colbourn Hall.
UCF President Dale Whittaker said that in addition to the misused money spent on Colbourn Hall, the school had misused money from a fund designated for operating expenses on three smaller projects.
The Orlando Sentinel reports those projects totaled about $10 million over five years.
