UI seeks to improve access for transfer students
URBANA, Ill. (AP) — The University of Illinois wants to create more guaranteed-admission partnerships with community colleges statewide to improve access for thousands of potential transfer students.
Executive Vice President Barbara Wilson briefed the university's trustees Thursday, The News-Gazette reported. She said the university's three campuses have more than 12,800 transfer students, which is more than any other Illinois university or system.
The university wants to continue improving its "pathways" programs, which promise automatic admission to the university for students who take certain required courses and maintain a strong GPA during their first two years, Wilson said.
