Arizona dusts Sean Manaea, A’s — ends skid at 7 games
With a nod to Frank Sinatra, the A’s Sean Manaea was riding high in April and has been shot down in May.
“That’s Life” is the name of the song Ol’ Blue Eyes made famous, and that part of the opening lyric certainly describes Manaea’s baseball life in 2018.
The left-hander gave up six earned runs on eight hits in 32/3 innings as Arizona dusted Oakland 7-1 at the Coliseum on Friday night.
In five starts this month, Manaea is 1-3 with a 7.18 ERA (21 earned runs in 261/3 innings). His season ERA has risen to 3.34.
It was at 1.03 after Manaea went seven innings in an 8-1 win at Houston on April 27.
