Georgia company opens new HQ after being wrecked by tornado
ALBANY, Ga. (AP) — A large employer in southwest Georgia has finished rebuilding after being wrecked by a tornado last year.
Southern Ag Carriers celebrated the opening of its new headquarters in Albany. The company transports peanuts and other farm goods by truck to buyers such as Procter & Gamble. President Hugh Nall says about 400 workers are on the payroll.
WALB-TV reports Southern Ag Carriers' old offices got destroyed when an EF-3 tornado ripped through Albany in January 2017. Nall says the company had to bulldoze the remains and rebuild from the ground up.
Southern Ag staff moved into temporary office space so the company could keep working. A ribbon-cutting marked the end of the rebuilding phase Thursday.
