Police arrest man who posted threat to Phoenix high school
PHOENIX (AP) — A 20-year-old man is facing charges after police say he threatened to open fire on a Phoenix high school.
Christopher Rodriguez Mendez had his initial appearance Monday in justice court.
Phoenix police had arrested him earlier in the day after he posted a threat on social media and booked him into jail.
Police spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Howard wouldn't say whether authorities believed Rodriguez Mendez would carry out the threat. Howard says all threats are taken seriously, especially when they involve schools.
Rodriguez Mendez has been appointed a public defender but no specific attorney is listed on court documents.
