Coast Guard helicopter makes emergency landing in Golden Gate Park
A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter made an emergency landing in Golden Gate Park Thursday morning after a maintenance light came on in the aircraft, a spokesman said.
“We had a helicopter on a search-and-rescue case that’s now closed,” said Petty Officer Cory Mendenhall. “They had a maintenance light come on and instead of continuing on their flight, they made an emergency landing.”
The chopper reportedly landed around 8 a.m. in Big Rec Field near Lincoln Way and Seventh Avenue.
The landing happened without incident or injuries, and a crew then evaluated the aircraft.
“It was just precautionary,” Mendenhall said.
