Alleged ‘drug house’ in Castro District catches fire; arson suspected
An alleged “drug house” in San Francisco’s Castro District caught fire Friday morning, and investigators believe arson to be the cause.
Water rushed down the road from the home, located at 519 Sanchez St., as firefighters — standing on the house’s blackened roof — doused the building with water. Several of the home’s windows had been broken.
The home is part of a two-part residential building and the fire was under control by 11:45 a.m.
In November 2015, City Attorney Dennis Herrera sued the property owner, Joel Elliott, calling the house a neighborhood “nuisance” known for residents dealing methamphetamine and other illicit drugs.
