Man gets life term in stalking, slaying of ex-girlfriend
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — A man convicted of first-degree murder and other charges after prosecutors in New Jersey said he stalked and shot ex-girlfriend 2½ years ago has been sentenced to life in prison.
Middlesex County prosecutors said 28-eight-year-old Giver Quiroz-Vasquez was sentenced Thursday. Prosecutors said he stalked and shot 24-year-old Alicia Martinez-Izaguirr in South Brunswick in June 2015.
They say he used a friend's car to follow the victim from her new boyfriend's house, then waited for her while she stopped at a doughnut shop and later fired at her car. The shot missed, but authorities said he followed her into the parking lot of her workplace, walked up to her car window and shot her in the head before fleeing.
