Ex-public defender suspended; admitted stalking boss's wife
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A former New Orleans public defender who pleaded guilty to stalking her boss's wife has been suspended from practicing law for a year and a day.
One Louisiana Supreme Court justice dissented, saying Trisha Ann Ward's offenses were so serious she should be suspended for two years.
The majority opinion, issued Friday, said Ward became romantically involved with her supervisor's wife and used a key card she'd been given to get into their property after the wife ended the relationship.
It says she also used the woman's credit card to buy three items totaling $97 after promising to remove the card number from her Amazon account.
Ward did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.
