Woman's body found in burning eastern Iowa house
WILLIAMSBURG, Iowa (AP) — Officials in eastern Iowa say a rural Williamsburg woman has died in a house fire.
The Iowa County Sheriff's Office says in a news release that the body of 52-year-old Barbara McCune was found inside the home after firefighters were sent there Thursday afternoon.
Officials say firefighters and deputies arrived at the house about three miles south of Williamsburg after a passerby called 911. Officials say the house was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived.
McCune's body has been taken to the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.
The sheriff's department and state fire marshal are investigating to find the cause of the fire.
