Suspect involved in shooting at Mississippi bar dies
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — The man involved in a shooting at a Hattiesburg bar has died.
Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem identified the man as 40-year-old Bryan Wright, of Petal. She says Wright's body will be sent to the State Crime Lab in Jackson for an autopsy.
WDAM-TV reports Police Chief Anthony Parker says it began about 1:17 a.m. Saturday. Multiple patrons reported hearing at least 10 to 15 shots fired by a person in a truck in the bar's front parking lot. Parker says one of his officers, who were responding to a report of an accident, returned fire. Klem says she saw at least one bullet wound.
Parker says the man was shooting randomly in the air.
No other injuries were reported.
