1 lane of Golden Gate Bridge closed after RV hits toll booth
One southbound lane of the Golden Gate Bridge was closed Wednesday morning hours after a recreational vehicle crashed into the toll plaza, damaging it, officials said.
The toll booth at lane No. 5 of the iconic bridge was damaged during the Tuesday night crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Just before 9 p.m., a rented Cruise America RV driven by a 53-year-old Southern California man was traveling southbound approaching the toll plaza, but apparently didn’t see signs advising large vehicle use the wide lanes to the far right, officials said.
The driver, who was unfamiliar with the bridge, didn’t realize his rig was too wide to get though the No.
