Utah school district employees prepare for 1st day of class
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — School officials are racing to finish cleaning, fixing and upgrading schools ahead of most Utah public schools starting a new school year this week, a difficult task that includes scraping gum off of desks, sprucing up playing fields and finishing summer construction projects.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/2vV57Y5 ) crews work through extensive to-do lists that can include full-blown renovation projects to carpet cleaning, scouring hard-water deposits from water fountains, waxing multipurpose room floors, painting, scrubbing lockers, washing windows, etc.
Many deep-cleaning projects cannot be accomplished with students, staff and faculty in the building.
