Part of tunnel at Arizona-Mexico border collapses
NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) — Officials say a segment of a cross-border tunnel has collapsed near the Arizona-Mexico border.
The Arizona Daily Star reports (http://bit.ly/1JgGfhh) that American officials were informed on Monday by Mexican authorities that a sinkhole had appeared over the tunnel in Nogales, Mexico.
The incomplete tunnel was discovered in mid-November near the DeConcini Port of Entry in neighboring Nogales, Arizona.
It ran under the vehicle lanes leading to the port of entry.
The cause of the 4-foot hole hasn't yet been determined by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
