Rep. Fortenberry's invitations delayed after mail complaints
Fortenberry said postcards inviting Bellevue constituents to a town hall meeting at noon on Aug. 3 were not delivered until the day of the event, the Omaha World-Herald (http://bit.ly/1U22UD1 ) reported.
"Most people were getting home from work and received the invitation to the town hall that was held at noon," Fortenberry said.
Rick Pivovar, manager of the Central Plains District for the U.S. Postal Service, apologized in a letter to Fortenberry for the delay, but did not give an explanation for the slow delivery.
A regional U.S. Postal Service representative said the service would examine procedure to avoid such mistakes again.
