Could you eat the Arizona Cardinals’ 7-pound burger challenge?
This is a lot of burger.
Incredibly bizarre stadium food is normally the dominion of MLB, but the Arizona Cardinals are laying down the gauntlet ahead of the NFL season with their “Gridiron Burger Challenge.”

It’s a seven pound burger, and if challengers are able to finish it in under an hour they’ll get a free Cardinals jersey and a featured spot on the team’s video board.
Now, if you’re thinking “Yeah, I can totally do this!” Then wait until you get the rundown on what’s on this monster:
- Five 1/3rd pound hamburger patties.
- Five all-beef hot dogs.
- Five bratwurst.
- Eight chicken tenders.
- Eight slices of bacon.
- 20 slices of American cheese.
- 12 ounces of fries.
- Lettuce.
- Tomato.
- Pickles.
- Tanker sauce.
- All serves on a 10 inch bun.
How I would attack this burger:
This is really a careful balancing act of carbs and sodium. Don’t even begin to think you could eat this like any other burger and finish. It needs some serious deconstruction. The key is working from least gut-busting to most, so you don’t get hit a wall midway through.
- Eat the burger patties topped with cheese.
- Move to the hot dogs.
- Eat the brats.
- Eat the chicken tenders.
- Turn the two halves of the bun into small BLTs.
- Eat the fries.
The idea is back-loading the end of the meal with the carbs, and making the bread as tolerable as possible in the process. Whatever you do you’ve got to move fast — because unless you’re a competitive eater you’re done for.
Good luck.
