" Your arrival to Georgia is another call for peace," Giorgi Margvelashvili appeals to the Pope
" Your arrival to Georgia is another call for peace. I hope that this visit will not only strengthen cooperation between Vatican and Georgia, but it will be a powerful message to insure our region"s security and welfare," - said the President of Georgia at the meeting with the Pope.
The President has discussed one of the main problems - occupied regions during his speech at his residence and underlined that the main task is to return the refugees to their homes.
" Our country is a victim of foreign country"s military aggression. 20 percent of our Territory is occupied and almost five percent of our population are refugees.
These people have been deprived of their property just because they are ethnic Georgians. Only in 40 kilometers from here there are wires, people witness kidnapping, murder and abuse of other individuals every day. despite it we are not looking for ways of confrontation, we are looking for ways to DE-occupation of our country and for peace,"- said Giorgi Margvelashvili.
