Angela Vithoulkas to contest Wentworth as Independent
City of Sydney Councillor Angela Vithoulkas has confirmed to Sky news she will contest the Wentworth by-election as an independent. The move would put her up against fellow councillor Christine Forster who is former Prime Minister Tony Abbott's sister. Ms Forster has confirmed she will seek Liberal pre-selection for the seat vacated by Malcolm Turnbull. Sky News understands broadcaster and host of 'Jones and Co', Alan Jones, will be backing Ms Vithoulkas. In a statement to Sky News, she says; 'The public need stability, continuity and fearlessness. A strong Independent whose loyalty is to the people she serves, not stacked branches...' 'I want to rebuild the faith people should have in their community leaders, and make them the priority, not a pawn in party politics'. Image: John Appleyard / News Corp Australia
