27 Jun 2022 – The World Curling Federation has announced that Central Otago's Peter Becker is one of five new inductees into the World Curling Hall of Fame.
He becomes the first New Zealander to receive World Curling's highest honour.
He joins as a "builder" of the sport, along with four players –- the remaining three members of Canada’s Team Schmirler, first ever women’s Olympic champions as well as multiple world champions, and another Canadian Ian Tetley, a three-time world champion.
World Curling Federation President Kate Caithness said, "I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to our World Curling Hall of Fame 2022 inductees. Their contribution to our sport both on the ice and behind the scenes to develop curling cannot be underestimated."
