Artem Lobov vs. Chris Avila targeted for UFC 202
At UFC 202, the Diaz vs. McGregor rivalry will extend beyond the main event.
The UFC is working towards adding a featherweight fight between Artem Lobov and Chris Avila to the Aug. 20 card, MMA Fighting has learned.
The booking is an interesting one because Lobov is a good friend and training partner of McGregor, while Avila is a protégé of the Diaz brothers. Of course, McGregor vs. Nate Diaz is the main event of UFC 202.
Lobov (12-12, 1 NC), 29, is 0-2 in the UFC. After reaching the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 22, he lost to Ryan Hall in the finale and then Alex White in February.
The 23-year-old Avila (5-2) would be making his UFC debut. He's won three fights in a row and turned pro in 2014.
UFC 202 will take place at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
