With Rory MacDonald Testing Free Agency; Why the UFC is Still the Better Option, Even With Reebok
Over the last few months there has been somewhat a fan revolt against the UFC. The amount of condemnation witnessed in groups and forums - even from certain media - is overwhelming... and to be quite frank, very selective
I guess we all know the heart of the matter. The Reebok sponsorship deal. Admittedly it has been poorly executed by both parties involved, (UFC/Reebok) but as contracts were signed it's simply not going away due to fan uproar. Vocal fans and especially the fighters need to get used to the idea and adapt to maximise their earning potential.
The crux of the arguments seen all generally consist of the same regurgitated premise of 'lots of UFC fighters will move to Bellator because of the Reebok deal' or similar comments such as 'UFC fighters will move or pick Bellator because of sponsors'. Now while that argument may hold ever so slightly more water due to Benson Henderson and Matt Mitrione stating it was a factor for them, that doesn't apply to all, or possibly even the majority of the UFC's roster. For me, that argument is illogical and flawed as a blanket statement, and I'm here to explain why.
