UFC Fight Night 83 bonuses: Donald Cerrone scores $50,000 for quick finish of Alex Oliveira
Another fight, another bonus check for Donald Cerrone.
Making the thirtieth walk of his UFC/WEC career, "Cowboy" scored his sixteenth career bonus, taking home ‘Performance of the Night' honors for a masterful first-round submission of Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 83.
Cerrone overcame another customarily slow start to take Oliveria to the mat, deftly move into mount, then tie up the Brazilian with a triangle from top position in Sunday night's main event, which aired live on FOX Sports 1.
The win marked Cerrone's first at welterweight and gave the 33-year-old a much-needed shot of momentum after losing his title bid against UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in December.
In undercard action, Lauren Murphy and Kelly Faszholz notched their own little slice of history, becoming the first female bantamweights other than Ronda Rousey to earn ‘Fight of the Night' honors.
Murphy finished Faszholz with nasty salvo of punches and elbows with just five seconds left on the clock to win a back-and-forth brawl and snap a two-fight losing streak.
Veteran middleweight Chris Camozzi took home the night's remaining bonus, picking up the extra payday for his vicious 26-second knockout of Joe Riggs.
Camozzi rocked Riggs early, then unloaded six successive knees to the head to score his first UFC finish since 2012.
UFC Fight Night 83 took place Feb. 21 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA. As usual, all bonuses were $50,000.
