Brandon Thatch vs. Siyar Bahadurzada bout moved to UFC 196
A welterweight clash between Brandon Thatch and Siyar Bahadurzada was pushed back 13 days, the UFC announced Friday night. Initially planned for the Feb. 21 UFC Fight Night card in Pittsburgh, Penn., the bout has officially been moved to Las Vegas’ UFC 196 on March 5.
According to the promotion, Thatch is using a medication permitted under the UFC/USADA, WADA and Nevada State Athletic Commission anti-doping rules, but was unable to get the necessary clearance from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission.
"The Colorado fighter and his team have been in communication with the UFC and USADA throughout this process, and the required paperwork for licensing in Nevada has been filed," the promotion explained in a statement.
Headlined by Donald Cerrone vs. Alex Oliveira, the UFC Fight Night 83 card will go on with 13 bouts.
Thatch (11-3) will be looking to record his first win in 16 months when he meets Bahadurzada in Vegas. After scoring back-to-back devastating wins in his first UFC appearances, "Rukus" tapped to Ben Henderson and Gunnar Nelson in subsequent bouts.
Bahadurzada (21-6-1) has also his back against the wall following consecutive decision losses to Dong Hyun Kim and John Howard. "The Great," who last had his arm raised against Paulo Thiago, is 1-2 under the UFC banner.
UFC 196 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and features a lightweight title fight between Rafael dos Anjos vs. Conor McGregor, with a women's bantamweight title bout between Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate in the co-main event.
