What Happened to the UFC Monopoly Lawsuit?
Does everyone remember the anti-trust lawsuit that was filed against the UFC by a high powered law firm on behalf of Nate Quarry, Cung Le, and Jon Fitch? It was HUGE news a year ago, and I haven't heard a thing about it since a Las Vegas court denied a UFC motion to dismiss the lawsuit in July.
With the recent signing of Benson Henderson by Bellator, i was left wondering how this would play in the lawsuit. It obviously speaks against a monopoly as I understand the concept (I study literature, not law, so I really have no idea.) I tend to shy away from any grand conspiracy theories, but if by letting a few high-profile fighters walk (Phil Davis comes to mind, too) at the end of their contracts after being shown to bid on those contracts, the UFC stands to benefit in the long run by disproving monopoly, right?
If anyone of note reads these, any way we can get a quick follow-up article about the lawsuit? Almost every journalist on this site called the lawsuit potentially the biggest story in MMA, but it has fallen completely off the radar.
Anyone hear anything about the lawsuit? Internet search just turns up articles from July. I am assuming it is still an active lawsuit, but I have no idea.
