Bright Brazilian rhythms mark the launch of Olympics
Everything seems magical and amazing, when you watch the opening ceremony with a 70 000 audience at one of the biggest stadiums in the world.
It should be noted that Brazil did its best to make the launch of the games impressive. Special light effects and images were the first to draw everyone’s attention, and then the host displayed several important scenes from Brazilian history.
Thanks to special technologies, the stage turned into one of Brazil’s beaches, then displayed the favelas, and world-renowned supermodel Gisele Bündchen walked the stadium.
After several dancing and singing performances, we were treated to the Parade of Nations. Naturally, our priority was to follow Team Armenia. As usual, our delegation, this time of 35 people, walked after Argentina. Our flag bearer was swimmer Vahan Mkhitaryan, and he completed his mission beautifully. Armenian flag was displayed highly at Maracanã.
Once the parade was over, and IOC and Brazilian Olympic Committee Presidents delivered their speeches, a real Brazilian carnival began. It inspired the entire stadium to get on their feet and join the Olympics in the same rhythm and tempo. For a few minutes, we were wall parts of one big Olympic family.
So the games begin, and the flame at Maracanã Stadium will burn until August 21. For the athletes, competition for Olympic medals has started.
