Documents related to Armenian Church property in Turkey to be published
Director of the National Archives of Armenia Amatuni Virabyan told journalists today that the original documents will be published, so they will be in Ottoman Turkish. The documents will be translated into Armenian, and in all likelihood, into English.
“Armenian Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia has filed a complaint to the Constitutional Court of Turkey demanding that the Catholicosate of Sis be returned. This has made the issue more interesting. We will publish the documents issued to Armenians back then regarding their ownership of those lands,” he said.
The Director of the National Archives added that the Armenian Church will hold the blessing of the Holy Chrism this year and the National Archive will publish all documents related to this major ceremony as well.
“It will be a book of around 600 pages. The first documents refer to 1807,” said Amatuni Virabyan adding that the book will be published by September.
