Armenian elections: Sargsyan invites Pashinyan to live TV debate
“Given that you have been building your pre-election campaign on scaring the people with RPA for three days now, enhancing you poor policy of dividing the society into “white” and “black” parties, and given that you have allowed yourself vulgarization of the electoral process in the most inappropriate manner, I consider it necessary for the leaders of RPA and My Step to hold a separate debate even as we uphold the commitment to join the public debate of the leaders of all political forces running in the elections.
I suggest holding our debate on three television channels (the public channel and two others of our choice), with two anchors (who we choose by one), on four to six topics (I will select one half and you the other), with the possibility of addressing questions to each other. Taking into account your overloaded schedule, I leave the date of the debate to your choosing,” said Vigen Sargsyan.
This offer comes after the statement Nikol Pashinyan made on November 10. In particular, he wrote:
“I believe the upcoming elections should lay the foundation of an important tradition that we ought to consolidate in the legislation later. That tradition is the debate on live TV between the leaders of all political forces running in the elections.”
