Kenneth Cole named UNAIDS international goodwill ambassador
UNITED NATIONS — The head of the U.N.’s AIDS-fighting organization has named fashion designer Kenneth Cole as a new international goodwill ambassador. Kenneth Cole. Photo courtesy of accessories magazine.com The appointment by UNAIDS chief Michel Sidibe comes on the eve of the U.N. General Assembly meeting on ending AIDS June 8-10. Cole has long been involved in the global effort to end HIV and AIDS. He told reporters at a news conference on Tuesday he hopes to marry his United Nations work with the work of the amfAR foundation and its goal of finding a cure for the disease by 2020. Cole joined amfAR’s board in 1987 where he initiated public awareness campaigns and later became chairman.
