Gold prices down a third straight session to settle at 1-week low
Gold prices fell Thursday for a third session in a row to settle at their lowest in a week. Recent upbeat data on the U.S. economy backed expectations for further Federal Reserve interest-rate hikes, dulling the appeal of the yellow metal, which is traded in the U.S. dollar. December gold lost $6.50, or 0.5%, to settle at $1,205 an ounce. That was the lowest finish since Aug. 23 for most-active contract, according to FactSet data.
