BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Monday night showdown between the LSU women's basketball team and the Iowa Hawkeyes was the biggest betting event in the history of women's sports.
In a report from CNBC, FanDuel stated that the Elite Eight matchup between the Tigers and the Hawkeyes "was its biggest betting event of all time for women's sports."
Fan Duel also said in the report from CNBC that the game was the No. 1 betting event on Monday, finishing ahead of the NBA, MLB and NHL games that were on throughout the day.
In addition to being the biggest betting event of all time for women's sports, the game was the most-watched women's college basketball in history, with 12.3 million viewers.
The Iowa Hawkeyes defeated LSU 94-87 on Monday night to advance to the Final Four in Cleveland, Ohio.
