At least five militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K) were killed in an airstrike in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East announced Sunday that the airstrike was carried out in the vicinity of Khogyani district.
According to a statement released by 201st Silab, a commander of the group identified as Kateeb Ur Rehman was also among those killed.
The anti-government armed militant groups including ISIS sympathizers have not commented regarding the airstrike so far.
Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in East of Afghanistan but the anti-government armed elements are active in some of its remote districts and often attempt to carry out attacks against the government and security personnel.
