Ana de Armas jumpstarted the April 15 episode of Saturday Night Live with a bit of Spanish!
The 34-year-old Blonde actress is a first-time host on the late-night show. She opened up about how she learned English and her path to citizenship in her heartwarming monologue.
She owes it all to a beloved television show.

“I was born in Cuba. Came to America when I was 26, and I learned English the way everyone who comes to this country does – by watching Friends,” she joked. “Who would have thought that the best English tutor would be Chandler Bing? I mean look at me now – could I be any better at English?”
Ana added that she was three weeks away from becoming an American citizen and opened up about the moments when she knew she made it.
The first was when she was featured in the New York Times crossword puzzle. However, getting to host SNL was another big one for her!
She’ll be joined tonight by musical host Karol G. We’ll get this post updated with a video once Ana‘s monologue makes it online. We’ll also get Karol‘s performances up and let you know if anything else big happens.
