Puri Jagannath temple admin plans to cut down on servitor strength
The Jagannath temple administration in Puri is planning to remove several of the servitors as it feels there are too many of them, which in turn is giving rise to chaos and indiscipline in the shrine. The plan to bring down the number of servitors was mooted at a meeting on Saturday between temple officials and Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium and was met with stiff opposition from the servitors.
