Monty Williams pushed for the Suns to trade Deandre Ayton for Myles Turner when the Pacers offered a max contract in restricted free agency, per @Gambo987 (podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the…).
GM James Jones was adamant about not trading Ayton for Turner.

The last time Pacers met Celtics in playoffs was 2019
Victor Oladipo was out. Torn quad the previous January — on a play where he collided with, of all people, Pascal Siakam.
I think about this current Pacers run with P and the injury stuff… and I think about VO often. pic.twitter.com/WtGmadXjUi – 2:23 PM
One of the best defensive plays of the season won the #Celtics‘ their last matchup with the #Pacers. White snuck by a Turner back screen to block a potential Nesmith game-tying three with under one minute remaining. Nesmith had 26-12-7 that night. Siakam had 23 on 9/16. pic.twitter.com/o106LFD9qu – 12:37 PM

The Pacers were cosmically bad defensively the first month of the season. But slowly, through the IST experience, lineup changes and getting Pascal Siakam, Indiana became credible at that end, and proved it against the Knicks in Game 7. In @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/55053… – 10:28 AM
Two years ago, the Pacers offered Deandre Ayton a four-year, $133 million contract in restricted free agency.
In less than an hour, the Suns decided to match. Phoenix also declined sign-and-trade overtures for Ayton, which included Myles Turner.

The Pacers set two NBA records, Siakam got things started and then Haliburton was fired up by a courtside fan. McConnell changed the game in the 3rd and Nesmith didn’t miss a shot.
Now they’re on to Boston tonight.

The Pacers have reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2014.
Two trades for Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam alongside excellent drafting has put Indiana in position to be a sustainable contender in the Eastern Conference for years to come.

The move that Siakam just made that was called a travel is much less of a travel than the Halliburton side step/pivot foot drag. I liked the good old days where a travel was like getting pregnant…either you did or you didn’t – 4:47 PM
Knicks close the half with an 8-2 burst. Pacers shot 76%, led by 22 — and it’s 15 at the break, 70-55.
Pacers demeanor has been most impressive.
Haliburton scored 16 and Siakam has 15 as the Pacers are winning the war of attrition… – 4:46 PM
Halftime: Pacers 70, Knicks 55
Tyrese Haliburton has 16 and Pascal Siakam 15 for Indiana.
Per @ESPNStatsInfo, teams leading by at least 15 at half in a Game 7 are 20-0 all-time. – 4:46 PM
Siakam seems determined to figure out the difference to the officials between a Siakam post up and a Brunson post up. He’s making them basically define it. – 4:43 PM

Knicks might have to stop doubling Siakam. He’s a skeleton key for Indy’s offense right now. – 4:34 PM
Knicks trail Pacers, 39-27, after the first quarter.
Some notes:
– Admirable for OG Anunoby to play tonight but he might be 40%
– Tyrese Haliburton (14 PTS, 5/7 FG, 4/5 3PT) is out for blood
– Brunson: 6 PTS, 3/8 FG
– Siakam: 11 PTS, 5/6 FG – 4:09 PM
More than their shot-making (76% shooting), the Pacers being comfortable and in control was the most important thing for them in the 1Q.
Haliburton-Siakam combined for 25 of their 39. Pacers’ lead is 12.

Carlisle challenge is successful – and techs to DiVincenzo and Siakam. And how Johnson isn’t ejected I have no idea. – 3:57 PM
Refs overturn the call, no foul on Halliburton. Double techs on Donte and Siakam. – 3:57 PM
Pacers started game 10-for-11 from the field. Pascal Siakam 5-for-5 with 11 points.
Knicks’ Donte DiVincenzo 3-for-4 on 3s with nine points. – 3:56 PM
Pascal Siakam was doing his usual stall tactic so Pacers could decide whether to challenge. Donte tried to get him out of the way. Pascal shoved Donte. Hartenstein confronted Pascal. Somehow James Johnson got in the middle of it. – 3:56 PM
Donte shoves Siakam out of the lane as he hangs in there to allow time for Pacers to review video and decide whether to challenge. – 3:55 PM
Siakam’s start has been excellent: 5 for 5 with 11 of their first 21 points.
Pacers have made 10 of their first 11 shots. – 3:52 PM
Pacers haven’t allowed their excitement (and some nerves) for today show, instead good poise and focus to start.
Siakam, who needs to have a big game, has six of their first 16 — attacking Anunoby at every chance. Credit OG for trying, but he is stiff. – 3:48 PM
Kinda surprised Pacers haven’t tried to put more pressure on OG Anunoby so far. They’re trying now by getting Siakam involved. – 3:47 PM
A look back at the Pacers’ Game 6 win, responding to Rick Carlisle’s challenge, a determined look from Myles Turner, and Pascal Siakam rising to the occasion:
