Matt Moore did whatever he needed to do in a 26-23 win against the Vikings to put his team in a position to win. The game came down to a 44-yard Harrison Butker field goal. Moore, who was filling in for the reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, completed 25 of 35 passes for 275 yards and one touchdown to go 1-1 as the starter. Mahomes is set to see the practice field mid-week for the first time since dislocating his knee cap against Denver. The second-ranked passing attack benefited from a stellar performance by speedster Tyreek Hill, who hauled in six catches for 140 yards and one touchdown. Running back Damien Williams also did his share with 12 carries for 125 yards and one touchdown. That balance is exactly what they needed in Mahomes’ absence.
The Chiefs’ defense recorded one sack despite missing defensive ends Frank Clark and Alex Okafor. Dalvin Cook rushed for 71 yards, but opponents running game has given KC troubles in the last several games. Tennessee running back Derrick Henry has found the end zone in six of nine games. If the Chiefs can put pressure on Tannehill and contain the run, they will be successful.
Tennessee lost last weekend, 30-20, against Carolina. Ryan Tannehill threw for 331 yards and one touchdown in addition to 38 yards rushing and another score. Henry rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown. Despite tallying 430 yards of total offense, the turnovers hurt them. The Titans turned the ball over three times and Tannehill was sacked four times. Kicker Ryan Succop didn’t help the offense as he missed all three field goal attempts in the game.
Christian McCaffrey had another MVP type performance against the Titans defense. McCaffrey rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns, as well as a receiving touchdown in the game. Logan Ryan led the team with 10 tackles, while Harold Landry recorded a sack, interception, and eight tackles. Ryan has three interceptions, three forced fumbles and 3.5 sacks this season. Tennessee is holding opponents to an average of 18.7 PPG, seventh-best in the NFL.
