Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy’s response to the team’s mock scrimmage Wednesday is not ideal.
“It’s disappointing,” he said — but he’s not talking about the play on the field, just the horseplay that got out of hand.
Veteran offensive lineman Kyle Long got into a fight with rookie defensive end Jalen Dalton and used the newcomer’s helmet as a weapon in the third training camp fight in as many practices. Long struck Dalton with his own helmet, then was removed from practice. After Long left the field, he threw up on the sidelines a couple times, according to Chicago Sun-Times beat reporter Jason Lieser.
While the three-time Pro Bowl guard is certainly more mature in age, entering his seventh season with the team, Nagy said that the fight was below the standards he has for his team because “we are more mature than that.”
