VIDEO: Cleveland Browns trade Duke Johnson to Houston Texans
The Houston Texans acquired RB Duke Johnson Thursday in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.
After asking for a trade from the Cleveland Browns earlier this year, Duke Johnson is now a Houston Texan.
The Browns announced the trade on Thursday and that they will receive a 2020 draft pick in return.
The running back became unhappy in Cleveland after the team signed Kareem Hunt to back up Nick Chubb in February. Johnson cited a lack of loyalty from the organization despite a three-year, $15.6 million contract extension last summer.
“I’m big on loyalty,” Johnson told reporters at mandatory minicamp in June. “I’ve been loyal to this organization through it all, and the moment that I no longer have loyalty … the moment loyalty stops, it stops on both ends.”
Johnson spent four seasons in Cleveland, where he rushed for 201 yards and caught 47 passes — including three touchdown catches — last year.
