France pension reform: Why is the govt not negotiating with the unions?
France is braced for another major day of unrest this Tuesday as protesters voice their anger at the govt's deeply unpopular pension reforms. Strikes and demonstrations are taking place across the country. And there is a large police presence in the streets. The Interior Minister said 13 thousand officers are being deployed - a record in France, after violence broken out at similar protests last week.
