Who are these two teams?
After six weeks of the season, it definitely feels like we know the identity of most NFL teams. But the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles remain a mystery. Some weeks, these squads look like they could beat any team in the league. Other weeks, they look capable of losing whichever game they’re in.
Who is going to come out on top in this matchup, which could set the tone for the NFC East?
Some Cowboys fans have been quick to blame quarterback Dak Prescott for his team’s recent three-game skid, but he has had some nearly impossible obstacles set before him. Against the Jets, he was missing both starting tackles and saw injuries to his #1, #2, and #4 receivers. Even so, he passed for almost 300 yards.
The bigger problem in Dallas is that the offense has been widely dubbed “predictable,” and the question remains as to whether this team can excel if its stars don’t transcend the vanilla play-calling.
While the run defense was stout last week, the secondary has been a problem in Dallas and the pass rush has gone quiet. A soft pass defense and a bland, unreliable offense is not a recipe for success.
The Eagles have also been plagued by injuries and questionable play-calling. Linebacker Zach Brown should never have been responsible for covering Stefon Diggs last week. Diggs scored three touchdowns and put up 167 yards receiving in a performance so dominant that Brown was cut on Monday.
Overall, the Eagles secondary can’t compete with elite receivers, and it killed them last week. Philadelphia has one of the worst cornerback units in the NFL and the rest of the defense can’t seem to make up for that.
On offense, the play calling in Philly has also been an issue. Too much running and safe offensive plays have been paired with weird choices, like a failed fake field goal against the Jets. The receivers really miss DeSean Jackson, as no one else in the passing game can really stretch the field.
It’s hard to figure out how this game will go. Two talented teams with glaring flaws are going head to head in primetime. It will be interesting to see which squad can put it all together. If both of these streaky teams put together a better performance, this could be one of the best games of the week.

3) Sling TV

Both Sling Blue ($25 per month) or Sling Orange + Blue ($40 per month) include NFL Network and a number of sports channels—like three ESPN channels and NBCSN—and it’s still a nice perk that Sling subscribers can order a la carte packages. Sling TV also offers a special Latino package for bilingual viewers. Sling TV is currently offering a deal where you can subscribe for 40% off the regular price for the first month of your subscription. For $10 extra per month, you can get NFL RedZone via the Sling Blue Sports Extra package.
How to use AirTV with Sling
AirTV solves one of Sling’s biggest problems: The inability to receive all of your local channels. By purchasing a basic AirTV for $79.99 or the AirTV Player for $119.99, you can merge those local channels into your Sling TV, (or on your mobile device if you have the basic AirTV). As the Daily Dot wrote in its AirTV review, “It’s practically magic.”
The basic AirTV is a dual-tuner streaming device, while the AirTV Player is basically an upgraded Chromecast that has Netflix preinstalled. You’ll still need to own an HD antenna because even though AirTV gets you access to your local channels, it doesn’t actually physically show them to you.
But AirTV—which has no monthly fee—serves to strengthen one of Sling’s biggest weaknesses compared to other live streaming services like Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV, and PlayStation Vue. All those services have plenty of local channels. While select NFL and college football games (on Fox, FS1, and FS2) are no longer on Sling, you can still catch Fox games with AirTV.
4) PlayStation Vue

If you’d like to watch live NFL games directly from your PS4, PlayStation Vue is your best bet. PlayStation also works with streaming devices like Roku and Amazon Fire products, but what separates PlayStation from the rest of the streaming services is that it’s also compatible with Kodi. No matter how you stream, you’ll get to choose from four tiers of channels—all but the cheapest include NFL Network. From there, you can also add NFL RedZone as part of the $10-per-month Sports Pack, which also unlocks ESPN Bases Loaded, ESPN Classic, Longhorn Network, Outside TV, and NBCUniversal regional sports networks. 5) YouTube TV

If you have cable, or one of the aforementioned live TV streaming services, you can download the NBC Sports app and watch Sunday Night Football there in HD. If you’re using a web browser, you may need to install the latest version of Adobe Flash and your browser will need to be current enough to support HTML5 Media Source Extensions. Fantasy football: Who should I start?
Cowboys
Dak Prescott, Quarterback: With Amari Cooper potentially out for this game, and Michael Gallup turning in a disappointing outing last week, it’s hard to tell who is going to eat in the Cowboys receiving corps. However, Prescott has remained a good fantasy option even in these recent losses. Look for him to come up big against this terrible secondary.
Eagles
Miles Sanders, Running Back: He has been a much better pass catcher than a runner, but fantasy doesn’t discriminate. Sanders has become a reliable flex option who always has a chance to get into the end zone.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Why it matters
This might be the most important game of the week for the playoff picture. With both teams at 3-3, and a competitive wild card race in the NFC, this matchup could be life and death. Don’t be surprised if one of these teams can trace their year-end half-game division lead back to Week 7.
Though the Cowboys are on a strange skid, they’ve mostly lost to good teams or teams that we hadn’t really seen before. Remember there isn’t much tape on the 2019 Jets with Sam Darnold. Maybe that one was a fluke.
The Eagles are harder to read. They can lose to the terrible Falcons and then turn around and beat the Packers. Philadelphia feels more inconsistent and their problems at receiver and cornerback feel more difficult to overcome than what we’re seeing in Dallas.
In some ways, this game feels like a coin flip, but we will go with a Cowboys team that has more talent and seems to have fewer holes to plug to get their squad up to speed.
