Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in New Haven
A man was killed after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash in New Haven early Sunday, police said.
Officers were notified about a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard and Washington Avenue around 1:28 a.m. on Sunday, according to the New Haven Police Department. Dispatch notifified officers that the driver involved had fled the scene, police said.
According to police, an unidentified man was walking on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard at the intersection of Washington Avenue when he was hit by a dark colored vehicle.
New Haven Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel responded to render aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The New Haven Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team spoke to witnesses at the scene and obtained surveillance video. The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
