Those of us who aligned ourselves with the liberation struggle in the 1980s were well aware that the apartheid state had spies in newsrooms around the country.. Of course we didn't know who they were, but this didn’t stop us from speculating - certainly in the newspapers circulating in Cape Town.
Speculation was particularly rife (in my eyes) one day when the head of the “riot” police, Major Dolf Odendaal, held an impromptu “discussion” with a group of journalists after a day of battles between protesters and police in the city centre. Читать дальше...
