Comedian Garry Shandling is dead at 66

Garry Shandling died at the age of 66 on Thursday.
TMZ initially reported that Shandling had died, and it was confirmed by LAPD.
The comedian, best known as the star of "The Larry Sanders Show" on HBO, was taken from his home in Los Angeles to a local hospital and pronounced dead, according to police.
The circumstances of his death are not fully known, though TMZ reports that Shandling suffered a heart attack.
In addition to the groundbreaking HBO series, which ran in the 1990s and was cocreated by Shandling, the comedian did stand-up and was regularly featured on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson."
Shandling's representative was not immediately available for comment.
