Microsoft is working on technology that will keep track of what products consumers add to their carts, sources told Reuters. Such a development may enable consumers to avoid any kind of physical checkout because the store would be able to identify what shoppers have selected and charge them when they leave the store.
This could give rise to a competitor to Amazon’s Go technology, which allows consumers to scan a QR code when they enter a store, pick their products, and walk out without checking out, since cameras and sensors track their selections, ensuring that they're charged accordingly.See the rest of the story at Business Insider
